A cliche is overdone, lacking originality. The first word or phrase that might pop into your head — look, a cliche idiom is right there. Endless works of art meet a chilling and simple summary: too cliche. A romantic happily ever after, but also a tragic Romeo-and-Juliet ending. The superhero and the damsel-in-distress, but also the heroine who scoffs at the help of another man. The veteran coming back from war and faced with relentless demons screaming in his head, but also the stoic commander with years of service and a steady hand over the trigger.
Cliches can represent the common human experience. We are all more alike than we think, brainwaves and reflexes and energies all split up into segments, thrown together into a mesh of a personality. I enjoy embracing the premise of a cliche story, and twisting and rolling it into my own experience.
I’ve put together one place to access my best works — a visual timeline of the growth of my expression. I hope you’ll follow along as I experiment with new mediums and become more comfortable as an author.
