how to tell if you still have a soul
1
i’ve given everything up more times than i would have liked.
despite swearing to the heavens there was nothing
inside of me except a still storm of microscopic
dust. how do i keep finding parts of
me to lose inside blackholes?
2
some say the universe is
mostly empty space, a lie hurtled with the speed
of a comet, keep us from overthinking our place on a streaking spinning collapsing disintegrating galaxy. you shouldn’t fear that
in which you have no choice. you forget to learn our dark matter, ancient dust
that settles into our bones, forces us through splintered cosmos.
3
the dust is both essential to and defying all parts of your function how do
you even begin to understand? they meet me when particles have
no movement, they can only know emptiness. i can’t
be pulled into a field when they discover my
gravity is greater than or equal to
their own.
